When we finally managed to get seated it was great. Not very clear whether to do when you walk on and staff not very keen explaining if there is table or counter service etc...
Wish I could leave no stars at all. Absolutely vile customer service. The staff here are so, so rude, and think it's ok to argue with their customers and mutter behind their backs! The tablecloths are dirty and look like they've not been washed for decades, and the milk jug came with a filthy doily in top (which implies it hasn't been freshly poured). There was a snail trail on the carpet too!We shouldn't have even bothered ordering, but thought we'd give it the benefit of the doubt. We ordered the soup of the day, which was 'tomato pasta with cheese on top'. When it arrived it had tinned sausage in it! When we explained that it wasn't suitable for the vegetarian in our party, Pat told us that we should have told her! Absolutely ridiculous. She offered to change it for something else, which was fine, but then muttered something very rude about us to another member of staff, so we decided to leave. At this point she started arguing with us! We weren't interested in arguing about it - we just wanted to leave, but she kept telling us to 'listen' and insisting that she wasn't being rude!Never had such terrible customer service in my life. Avoid this place at all costs!!
Love the cream tea here, scones are warm, light and tasty. Had it four years ago and its still just as good now. Friendly staff and kitsch interior and fairy garden.
I usually love this place but we felt invisible whilst waiting to be served in the tea garden. We were totally ignored by the young waitress who didn't speak to us and had no eye contact and we were the only people in the garden so no excuse for this. After a 20 minute wait we went inside and were served by a pleasant older lady, but only ordered a pot of tea as we didn't have enough time to enjoy a full cream tea. I will return but hope things will be back to usual standard.
Lovely location with pretty garden at the back, homemade plain/fruit scones with jam and cream served with fresh strawberries. Friendly, helpful staff serving. Very reasonable prices. Cream tea with 2 large freshly baked scones, pot of tea 4.95. Cash only no cards taken.
