Step back in the time tunnel 100 years. Enjoy your wondering down to the sea. Good news is excellent pub's at both ends of the walk.
It is a bit of hidden, but from the end of main road in Shanklin for a small amount you can reach the beach through this amazing path. Like in a fairy tale with every of its wonder. However be careful if you want to go back on the same way - after you see the beach- because you have to note that you already payed in the other end. I didn't tell them that I come back in the same way and almost they charged again. Unfortunately they built everything on tourism, so better to bare it in mind.
A must to visit especially at dusk when all the lights are switched on. A magical delight and a bit like a fairy land. Beautiful views over the beach and out to sea. Also an outstanding waterfall at the end of the trail. Small gift shop and cafe with seating overlooking the chine make for a very tranquil visit.
Wonderful walks through the fern-hung chine, with waterfalls and stunning views out over the bay far below. Plenty of historical curiosities, too, including the remnants of the WWII PLUTO pipeline, with an explanatory display, and a small gallery of paintings, photographs, and literary relics - and a bird rescue centre, of all things. Unmissable!
This is a lovely little place to visit. It's good for a stop for an hour or so but not for the day. In the evening they do turn the lights on and it does light up which is really nice.
