Popped in for a spot of lunch whilst book shopping with my wife. Superb location, amazing food and great staff. Highly recommend.
Came for dinner to Vernon Cottage. We were drawn in by nice breadth to the menu and the pleasant outside seating. There were several good sounding veggie options for me, classic pub meals and desserts. Definitely recommend!
When you first walk up the steps, you feel like you have stepped back in time, to more care free days. Breath deep and relax. There is a small outdoor play area for the kids. The food is amazing, the cakes are the best on the Isle of Wight (though i have only been here 1 day so far and only eaten 1 cake) We had the chocolate ice cream cake. Yummmmmmmmmmmm We will definitely be back.
Lovely lovely tea rooms! So quaint inside. Only had drinks there... A very good pint of beer/real ale; wines are sold by the mini bottle. Only 4 stars as our experience was marred by smokers (we were seated outside as it was really hot weather). Only the first few tables outside of the cottage are non smoking. All others, people can smoke. Personally, and I'm aware that it's only my opinion, I think it's time to suggest smokers go into a designated area away from other diners. In fact, if it were my establishment, I'd have no smoking at all. Smoke was right up our noses even from two tables away due to the breeze! Yes, allowing smokers brings in... More smoking guests. But having smokers chases off non smokers! I may have stayed for food
We visited for an evening meal earlier in the week, we made a point of visiting The Vernon Cottage as we have been three times before in previous years visiting the Isle of Wight.The greeting was friendly and service excellent as usual! We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful gardens and the music is always great too! Thank you, we had a lovely meal and will be back again soon.
